As the saying goes, “Write about what you know.” And that is exactly what West Bloomfield native Alexa Randolph decided to do in her debut novel.
Randolph, a graduate of Michigan State University, is a professional events planner who decided to use her own experience to write a book – with a main character who has the same job as she does.
Randolph’s novel, titled “With Love, Ella,” is about the fictional character Ella Chambers, a sought-after New York party planner who, in the midst of planning her own wedding, receives devastating news that leaves her wedding day in the balance.
“I had a dream of publishing a novel and, with handwork, dedication and persistence, it came true,” said Randolph.
She will be signing copies of “With Love, Ella” from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7 at the West Bloomfield Jewish Community Center, 6600 West Maple Road.
